Week 5 of the RackMC Open Beta is here (one day late). A lot has happened over the past week.

For those who missed it, the Factions Season 0 playtest has been postponed until Friday, April 17th @ 6pm EST. It will still last 30 days, ending on May 15th. We hope to have Lands and Creative back up over the next couple of days.

Here is a list of all the bug fixes and changes that have been made since last week. If you find any more issues, make sure to open a ticket in our discord.

Week 4 of the RackMC Open Beta is here. We are also happy to announce that we will be starting our Factions Playtest this Saturday at 6pm EST!! It will run from April 11th - May 9th, lasting 30 days total. We have additional information about it here if you would like to learn more!

We have also launched our Netherite Rank, which is our limited time, permanent donator rank that will give all current and future perks on the server! You can read more about that here

We are happy to announce that we will be running the RackMC Factions Playtest starting next Saturday, April 11th at 6PM EST!! It will run from April 11th - May 9th, lasting 30 days total.

What to Expect?

The Objective

The Factions server will be up for 30 days. In that time, your goal is to create a faction, invite your friends, and become the top faction on the server. You do this by raiding other bases, collecting money and spawners, and defending your base. Top factions are determined by total faction value shown in /f top at the end of the playtest on May 9th at 6PM EST.

Pay to Win?

One thing we pride ourselves on is being 100% not pay to win. We will never offer any feature that will give any sort of advantage to players that purchase them on any of our servers. Our planned ranks are meant to be a donation to the server with some perks instead of a way to buy a competitive edge against other players.

Factions Basics

Our Factions server features a 15k x 15k world border, an 800x800 warzone, and a safe zone at spawn.

Basic commands to know are the following:

  • /f create <faction name> - creates a faction
  • /f invite <player> - invites a player to your faction
  • /f kick <player> - kicks a player from your faction
  • /f join <faction name> - lets you join a faction you are invited to
  • /f claim - claims land for your faction
  • /f sethome - lets you set your faction spawn
  • /f unclaim - unclaims land

Other Features

We have some other commands that may be useful:

  • /kits - allows you to view the available kits
  • /sell hand - allows you to sell any sellable items you are holding
  • /sell all - allows you to sell any sellable items in your inventory
  • /shop - lets you view the shop
  • /ah - allows you to view or create listings on the auction house
  • /rtp - lets you randomly teleport within a 5k x 5k area
  • /tpa <playername> - sends a tp request to a player
  • /tpaccept - accepts a tp request

Prizes

Since this version of the server is bound to have some bugs and issues, we will not be offering a monetary prize for the top factions at the end of the 30 days like we plan to for the full release. Instead we will be offering a special tag for the top 3 factions and Netherite Rank for the #1 faction (players who already purchased the Netherite Rank will recieve a code to give to a friend).

Note: Since the server is still an Open Beta, ranks may not have all features that we plan to release at launch. You may receive a rank with little to no perks at this time, but they will be added later.

Why a Playtest?

We feel the server is in a pretty good state in terms of features and balancing, so this playtest is primarily meant to help stress test the server and make sure everything functions properly with a decent playerbase. We want to make sure that the server is in a good state at launch so it is fair and fun for everyone.

What's Next?

After the playtest, we plan on finalizing Factions and then making sure the rest of the servers are up to the same level of polish. We still have a bit to go in terms of implementing all the features we want to the server, but its getting close. We don't want to promise dates just yet, but we are likely looking at just a couple more months of work once the playtest is over. While we want to make sure that RackMC is up to our level of standard, we realize that is not as important as following through with our promises and getting the server out for you all to play on.

Important Disclaimers

Rules

We have our rules listed on our website. Any players not following the rules will be punished accordingly. Players cheating in the form of x-ray, wallhack, tracers, kill aura, or any other hack that gives an unfair advantage will be permanently banned from RackMC.

Wipes

At the end of the 30 days the Factions server will close until the server officially launches. We will do a full wipe before the launch of Season 1.

Bugs

While we believe the server is in very good shape for this playtest, it is still a playtest. There are bound to be bugs, exploits, downtime, and other issues over the course of the 30 days. Features may be added or removed at any time. If you find any bugs, exploits, or other issues, make sure to open a ticket in our discord.

TLDR

Factions Season 0 playtest will run from April 10th at 6pm to May 8th at 6pm. The goal is to create a faction and work your way to /f top by the end of the playtest. Top 3 factions will recieve a tag and each member of the #1 faction will get a code for Netherite Rank to redeem on our store. The server is close to bug free and balanced, but there may still be issues and downtime. At the end of the playtest, there will be a wipe and Season 1 will start when RackMC officially launches.

Netherite will be a limited time, founder rank, available from now (April 3rd) until RackMC's official launch (TBD). Once it is gone, it will not be back! It will be a one time purchase of $19.99 available on our store.

Why Time Based Ranks?

We have made it our primary focus to not only provide no competitive advantage from buying a rank, but we also wanted to make ranks cheaper and more easily accessible to all. That being said, ranks are how we are able to raise funds to improve the server and overall experience.

We felt that this was the best way to accomplish our goal, and with how our perks work, we feel as though this will still allow you to feel as though its worthwhile.

What Do The Ranks Offer?

Our primary perk and cosmetic is the network wide tags that you can unlock. While you unlock the tags by purchasing a rank (or directly purchasing tags from the store page), you don't lose your tags when your rank expires.

When you purchase a rank, you will receive tag "credits" in game. The number of credits you receive depends on which rank you purchase and for how long. With the credits, you can purchase any tag available on the tag shop.

Iron

Iron grants you the following:

  • 1 tag credit per 30 days
  • Improved Daily Rewards in Lobby

Disclaimer

All donator ranks are a work in progress, so they are subject to change between now and the launch of the server. Features such as how credits work and the tag shop are not currently implemented and may change before RackMC's launch.

We do not currently have any donator tags, therefore the purchase of Netherite will not grant you any tags until we release some.

We do not have all planned donator features implemented as of now, so Netherite may be lacking features that were listed above until RackMC's launch.

It is now week 3 of the RackMC Open Beta. We have made one big change to the Lands server and have some news about the Factions server, so read below!

Here is a list of all the bug fixes and changes that have been made since last week. If you find any more issues, make sure to open a ticket in our discord.

Major Changes

  • Added Factions to the server count scoreboard (you can turn this off with /sb)

Lobby

  • Added daily, weekly, and monthly mystery boxes with unlockable cosmetics
  • Setup duels in the arena (wip). Join by left clicking the sign

  • We have removed the server bank account for jobs. Now jobs will have an unlimited payout (for now)
  • A shopping district has been created for players to have a localized shopping area

Welcome to week 2 of the RackMC Open Beta. Over the past week, we have had 30+ unique players join and over 200 hours of total playtime on the network! We just wanted to say thank you for dealing with all the bugs and being patient with us. Now that a big chunk of issues have been fixed, it should be mostly smooth sailing from here.

Major Changes

Lands

  • Nation creation cost has increased from $100 to $1000
  • Chunk claiming cost remains $100, but each additional chunk will only cost $10 more instead of $25
  • Added a 5th vote site
  • Updated the vote crate reward pool
  • You can now show off items by typing [i] in chat
  • Land upkeep has increased from $5 per chunk to $10 per chunk
  • Jobs payouts have been reduced by half to promote more mining and trading between players

After being down for a couple hours last night, it seems the the server is back up and running with no issues. Here is a list of feature changes and bug fixes since the last post. If you find any more issues, make sure to open a ticket in our discord.

  • We have started work on a house at spawn that will give basic tutorials for many aspects of the server
  • The number of homes a player can set has been increased from 3 to 5
  • Voting now has a reward of Vote Keys that can be used at the Vote Crate at /spawn

The RackMC Beta has now been going on for a few days, so I wanted to give you all yet another update of whats been going on. If you find any more issues, make sure to open a ticket in our discord.

We have implemented server voting:

  • We have added the /vote command. Currently this will just give you a list of server list sites you can vote for our server on, but eventually it will be set up with some pretty good rewards!
  • For the time being, if you let us know that you voted on all the sites on the RackMC Discord, we will give you 1000 Raw Copper ($) on the Lands server. You are able to do this every 24 hours.
  • Voting helps us grow the server, so any voting that you do is greatly appreciated.

After the first day of the RackMC open beta, we have been able to find and fix many issues. I just wanted to make this quick post to let you all know of the known issues, fixes we have made, and major changes to the network. If you find any more issues, make sure to open a ticket in our discord.

We have made some changes regarding land claiming and upkeep:

  • Creating a new Land will now only claim 1 chunk instead of 9
  • The cost to create a Land has been decreased from $500 to $250
  • The cost to claim chunks has decreased from $500 to $100 with the additional cost per chunk decreasing from $50 to $25
  • Upkeep per chunk has changed from weekly to daily
  • Upkeep per chunk has decreased from $25 per day to $5 per day

Today begins our 3rd Lands Playtest. This one will be different however, as it will be up until we officially launch the server. The playtest will begin at 8pm EST and run until the official launch of the server.

Due to how long its been since our last playtest and the fact that we haven't worked on the server much since then, we have essentially had to rebuild Lands from the ground up. This means that there are a some new features, some removed features, and a lot of broken ones. I just wanted to make this post so anyone who is playing will have a quick reference of we the Lands server, and the network as a whole can offer.

NOTE: We will try to keep this list updated with all broken or missing features, so if you notice that something is not working quite right and it is not listed here, make sure to report it in our discord.

We've said this a couple of times before, but now we are back for real!! It's been another 2 years since the last post and playtest, but we've decided that enough is enough.

We will be releasing RackMC as an Open Beta starting March 16th, 2026!

What does this mean for RackMC? We will be launching our server network with the Lands server and the Creative server, as well as events from time to time. These main two server will be accessible as close to 24/7 as possible (There may be downtime due to updates or bug fixes). We still do not have an official launch date and probably won't for some time, but we wanted to get something out after all of these years.

Because this is an early access server, there will be bugs, missing features, and potentially game breaking issues. The best thing to do is to report any bugs to staff members via discord and we will get them fixed as soon as possible. We also do not plan to do any form of wipe for both Lands and Creative until the official launch of the network (This is subject to change and will be announced ahead of time if it comes to it).

Lands Playtest Info

As mentioned above, we will be doing a 3rd Lands playtest. If you would like to view all the commands, go to our documentation, or even the official lands documentation. This will purely be a list of features and other info

Raw Copper Economy

The way this currently works is the raw copper item is what is used to buy, sell, and trade with players, as well as purchase and upkeep lands. The idea is you mine for raw copper and then you can sell it using a shop at spawn to get "digital copper", which is then used for lands purchases, chest shops, the auction house, and more.

As the development goes on, we plan to also all copper collected from land purchases and upkeep to go into a server account that will be redistributed back to the players via jobs. Unfortunately this is not how it will work in the first implementation.

It's been a while, but we are back!!

After nearly two years, RackMC is making a return!! For the past week or so, we have been running a small, "unofficial" playtest for the RackMC Lands server to get it updated and back to a playable state. Now that we feel as though we have, we would like to officially announce that we will be doing a second playtest for the Lands server! We want to invite everyone that has stuck with the project until now to join us in playing on and testing the Lands server for a final time. We plan to have the playtest up for the next month or two with a potential launch of the RackMC network this summer (no promises yet lol)

For those who have been playing in previous playtests, there will be some major changes made. The biggest is the testing of a new economy system. The currency of the Lands server will be copper ingots. You can use the /shop command to convert your currency from physical to digital, or vice versa. The idea is there is a limited number of copper in circulation, so while you can still earn it through jobs, once the server account has been depleted, you will have to mine copper by hand. The server account will then get copper back through the upkeep of lands and the cycle repeats. While we are not 100% set on using this for the final release of lands, it is something we thing is unique and interesting. Therefore we want to hear your feedback! Whether you think it is awesome or makes gameplay more difficult or confusing, just let us know on our discord

For ease of access, we will also be listing the major changes to the server here, as well as all the useful commands you should need.

Lands

While this is not new, it is a core gameplay feature. If you would like to view all the commands, go to our documentation, or even the official lands documentation. This section is to server purely as basic tips.

  • With our new economy, you still start out with $2500, which is enough to start a land with one chunk and sustain it for a week. The new upkeep per chunk is $250 per day and the new cost per chunk $1000 plus an additional $500 for each chunk after
  • MAKE SURE YOU DEPOSIT MONEY INTO YOUR LAND'S BANK!!! (/lands deposit amount). Failure to do so will cause your land to be unclaimed and your builds and possessions to be prone to griefing and stealing.
  • If you would like to make your land accessible for anyone to do /land spawn to visit, you can do so by doing the following:
    1. /lands
    2. Select roles
    3. Select visitor
    4. Select action flags
    5. Enabling teleport to spawn

Custom Image Maps

We have added the ability for players to create custom map art from a url of their choice to display. You can even use animated gifs. Any inappropriate images will be deleted and may result in a ban.

  • Each player only gets 5 custom image maps at a time
  • You need to have the blank maps and the item frames in order to create them
  • In order to create an image map, you use the following command:
    • /if create name of image url number of maps wide number of maps high combined
    • If you were to do 2 wide and 2 high, you will need a 2 by 2 grid of item frames.
  • If you want to reuse a map you create previously, you do
    • /if get name combined
  • If you would like to delete a image to create a new one, you do
    • /if delete name
  • To place a map into the item frames, you crouch and right click

Item Frame Visibility Toggle

With the custom image maps, we have added the ability to toggle the visibility of the item frames.

  • To enter visiblity toggle mode, do
    • /itf togglemode visibility
    • Note: you will need to crouch and right click to toggle the visibility. Once you are done, you will need to run the command again.

Copper Economy

This is by far the biggest change. So big in fact, we aren't sure if it will work the way we want, which is why we are testing it here. If you have any issues, confusion, or suggestions, let us know by opening a ticket in our discord. The way it works is there is a limited amount of money (copper) in circulation. The money is collected through lands upkeep, at $250 per chunk per day. What this all means is that while you can still earn money from the jobs system that we had previously, once there is no more money to pay out, you will have to mine for more copper. To prevent players from just draining the server balance, there is a cap based on your total jobs level. This is all a work in progress and isn't set in stone, so as previously mentioned, your feedback is greatly appreciated so we can tweak this system to make it work just right.

  • The only command you should need is actually /shop, which will open the new copper to $ exchange

Removal of /shop

Due to the fact that we want community to reign supreme, we have decided to remove the /shop. We want chest shops to be the number 1 way people buy and sell items, and the /shop was just to cheap and easy compared to player run chest shops. In place of /shop, we will plan to set up a market area in the next couple of days for players to build shops in a localized area to sell their goods to make it easier to access. We will still have the auction house with /ah for specialty items to be sold.

RTP

Another one that isn't new, but we just wanted to lay out how it works for anyone who is new.

  • /rtp has a range of of up to 5000 blocks and a cooldown of 5 minutes.

Tags

We have switched from the role play tags that we had previously to tags that will be availible network-wide. They are still a work in progress, but for now, we have a tag from each of the previous playtest. If you have participated in the playtest over the past week, the 1st lands playtest, or the factions playtest, you will have a tag to commemorate it. If you participate in the playtest now until it ends, you will get the tag after it is complete.

Elevator

New with this playtest is elevators. You can now create a structure that allows you to go between different floors of your build seamlessly.

  • To create an elevator, all you have to do is place an iron pressure plate on top of a quartz block.

Hello all!

Despite the lack of communication over the past few months, we have some good news! We plan to start working on RackMC once again.

All four of us on the admin team are currently in college and our time over these couple of months has been focused on that. It may have seemed like we had given up, especially after promising an early 2022 launch, but we are far from it. We are all still super passionate for this project and want to see it succeed. Especially with all the time and effort we have put in, we don't want to see it end like this.

As of right now, we still all have our focus elsewhere, but I just want to let you all know that RackMC is not out of mind. We are slowly starting to get back into things and get some work done. We don't have any estimate of when the server will be ready and we don't plan on having one until everything is finished. Until then, expect more events and other things in the coming weeks.
